When I was a kid, we had a summer home in Počitelj, Bosnia. Our house there had a fig tree that gave us shade. I used to sit on the roof and eat figs for hours. Those times mean a lot to me. This summer, I went to Mostar (30 min away from Počitelj) and saw a painting that felt just like those memories.
In that moment, I felt like I had to bring that painting home. It wasn’t just any painting, it was like a piece of my heart. It was a way to keep a part of my past alive, to remember all the good stuff. So, I made sure I didn’t leave Bosnia without that painting.
It stands as a silent witness to my journey, a reminder of the little girl who enjoyed her figs on a rooftop and the woman who cherishes those memories with every beat of her heart.
